LAKE MARY, Fla.- Jacqueline Shelly recorded her second win since joining the Florida Atlantic University women’s golf team this season at the Seminole State Spring Break Tournament hosted by the Seminole State College Raiders at the par-72 Timacuan Country Club. Shelly’s first win with the Owls was at the JU Classic on Oct. 15, 2013.
The junior carded rounds of 76 and 74 to finish the two-round tournament with 150 strokes. Shelley has been FAU’s leading scorer in every tournament she has competed in this season. Following Shelley was Christina Langer in fifth place, recording rounds of 74 and 81 for 155. FAU’s Kayla DeSuza shot rounds of 82 and 85 to finish in 13th. Nicole Marino finished one shot behind DeSuza tying for 14th-place with rounds of 85 and 83. To round out the Owls’ team was Heather Netti in 17th carding a two-round total of 172 strokes.
FAU’s team finished third overall with rounds of 315 and 323 for 638 strokes over the two days of play. The Raiders clinched the win with rounds of 311 and 307 for 618 total. The women’s golf team will compete in their final tournament before the Conference USA Women’s Golf Championships on Friday, March 21. The three-day Cincinnati Spring Invitational will take place in Crystal River, Fla.
