The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team is in third place out of seven teams after the first round of the Eastern Kentucky University El Diablo Intercollegiate (5,902 Yard/ Par 72) on Thursday in Citrus Springs, Fla.

FAU (315) sits behind Austin Peay State (313) by two strokes and trails the hosting Eastern Kentucky Colonels (310) by five strokes. The Owls find themselves ahead of their inter-conference rivals Western Kentucky University who had a 326 composite score on the day.

FAU sophomore, Marilyne Cadieux, ended the first round tied in fourth place with Eastern Kentucky's Linda Hogberg. Cadieux led Florida Atlantic by shooting a consistent round with a three-over-par 75.

Sophomore, Kayla DeSuza is tied for eighth place individually going into the second day of competition with a score of 79 after the first round. Jennifer Norton (80) and Elisabetta Bertini (81) also ended the day in the top 20.

The second round will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
