Florida Atlantic University women's golf team concluded the Seminole State Spring Break Tournament in second place out of 9 teams. The Owls put up a two-round total of 623.
The tournament was held at Timacuan Golf and Country Club in Lake Mary, Fla. The course is a par 71 with a yardage of 7,047.
Sophomore Heather Netti moved up three spots and senior Christina Langer moved up five spots to lead the way for the Owls' following 36 holes. Netti and Langer carded a 78 and 77 in round two finishing tied for third with a total of 155.
Freshman Emily Faulkner fell from second place to fifth following the second round. Faulkner shot a nine-over 80 for a total of 156. Daniella Castaneda followed in next for the Owls shooting a nine-over 80 in both rounds tying for 10th overall.
Competing individually for FAU was sophomore Tai Barber who finished tied for 18th after shooting a 76 in round one and 86 in round two for a total of 162. Kadi Pallastrone rounded out the group tying for 23rd with a total of 166. The final two competitors Macarena Haupt and Yumi Fujii were competing individually and finished the tournament shooting a 168 and 172, respectively.
Kathy Baker-Guadagnino, Women’s Golf Head Coach had this to say following the second place finish, “I thought the girls did really well today. It was nice to see them in contention again for the second tournament in a row. They continue to improve at a rapid pace having shaved off 80 strokes from last year's total score of 703. This year the girls posted a 623! Go Owls!!”
The Owls will make the trip up to Daytona, Fla. to take part in the Lady EagleCat Invitational on March 14-15.
