Lakeland, FL. - The women's golf team of Florida Atlantic University shot its second consecutive round of 301 to remain in first place of the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern at the Cleveland Heights golf course. Three Lady Owls finished in the top five with Natalia Navarro holding strong in second place.
Navarro fired a one-over par 73 and is only one behind the leader entering the final day of competition. Jessica Carafiello cut her first day score down by three strokes to shoot a 73, her lowest round of the year, and finished in fourth place. Anne Fraser, the Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer-of-the-Week, improved two strokes from yesterday to shoot a 74 and finish in a tie for fifth place. Both Heidi von Korff and Amanda Pettit shot 81's on the 5997-yard par 72 course.
FAU matched its season low total for the second day and but will have to watch its back as Washington State University shot a tournament low round of 297 to pull themselves to within four strokes. Two more South Florida Universities finished in the top five; Florida International University (622) finished third while Lynn University (625) finished fourth.
The Owls will conclude play in the Lady Moc Classic on Sunday, March 1, in Lakeland, FL.
