Lakeland, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team fired the second lowest score of the second round, 304, moving up to fourth place in the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern College. Natalia Navarro and Amanda Pettit improved a combined ten strokes from the previous day, as the duo both finished in a tie for sixth place.
Pettit fired a career low round of 73, improving seven strokes from the previous day on the par 72 Cleveland Heights golf course. Navarro improved three strokes from the first-round to shoot 75, tied for third best score of the second round. She has not finished a second round this year lower than third place. Both golfers are only five-strokes out of first place.
FAU jumped two places, improving 20 strokes from the previous day, largest among all 23 teams participating. The Lady Owls (628) trail Florida Southern and Florida International by one-stroke for second place and Rollins College by 23 strokes. Middle Tennessee State (633) rounds out the top five. FAU leads fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Stetson by 30 strokes.
Florida Atlantic will conclude play in the Lady Moc Classic Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
