Miami, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team fell one-stroke shy of winning its first tournament of the year, finishing second at the Miccosukee Championship hosted by Florida International University at the Miccosukee Country Club. Natalia Navarro and Jessica Carafiello both finished in the top ten, marking the second time the duo has accomplished that feat together this year.

Navarro finished fourth individually after firing a final round 80 on the 6,099-yard, par 73 course. She has not finished lower than sixth in five tournaments this season. Carafiello, fired a third-round 80 for a seventh place finish, her highest finish this season. Amanda Pettit finished 16th individually with a three-round score of 239. Freshman Sandi MacDougall finished a career best 18th with a three-round total of 240, while Heidi von Korff finished with a score of 250, respectively.

The Lady Owls led by 14-strokes going into the final round but could not close the deal as the team fired a team round of 324, sixth highest in the 13-team field. The University of Michigan (943), host FIU (954) and the University of Maryland (955) round out the top five.

The Lady Owls return to action Sunday, February 29 at the Lady Moc Invitational in Lakeland, FL
