Miami, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team leads by 14 strokes after two rounds of the Miccosukee Championship hosted by Florida International University at the Miccosukee Country Club. Three Lady Owls finished in the top-seven with Natalia Navarro finishing in the top ten to start a tournament for the fourth time this year.
Navarro is in second place after shooting a first and second round scores of 75 and 74 on the 6,099-yard, par 73 course. Amanda Pettit fired a season low first round of 74 to finish tied for third while Jessica Carafiello finished seventh after rebounding from an opening round 81 to shoot even par in the second round. Freshman Sandi MacDougall shot a 79 to tie her season low while Heidi von Korff improved eight strokes to shoot a second round 79.
Florida Atlantic leads the 13-team field after shooting rounds of 309 and 304. Southern Methodist University (627), the University of Michigan (632), host FIU (635) and the University of Maryland (638) round out the top five. FAU is the only team representing the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Lady Owls will conclude play in the Miccosuke Championship on Tuesday, February 17.
