Miami, FL. - Led by Anne Fraser and Heidi von Korff, the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team rallied from three strokes down to finish fourth in the Golden Panther Women's Golf Championship held at the Doral Silver golf course. FAU finished with a two round score of 656 in the 15-team event.
Fraser improved on her 82 the previous day to shoot a 79 and close the tournament with a score of 19 over par 161 to finish in a tie for 12th place. Von Korff fired a team low 78, a six stroke improvement from yesterday, giving her a two round total of 162 to finish 15th. Natalia Navarro improved three strokes to shoot a round of 83 while Amanda Pettit exploded with an 11-stroke improvement to fire off a 79. Jessica Carafiello shot a final round 88 to finish with a two round total of 173.
FAU improved its overall total by posting a 319 round compared to the previous day's 337. The University of Illinois finished first overall with a two round score of 633 with North Carolina-Greensboro finishing second with a 646 and Georgia State University finishing third with a 653. Florida International University's Courtney Burdick was the individual winner, concluding play with score of 12 over par 154 on the 6,003, par 71 course.
FAU will continue its season February 24-25 in Orlando, FL., at the UCF Invitational.
