SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Former Florida Atlantic University women's basketball standout Brittany Bowe will represent the United States of America in speed skating in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
The Ocala, Fla. native qualified in the 500-meter event with times of 37.61 and 37.90 on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Salt Lake City. She finished second in both races to teammate Heather Richardson.
Bowe set her career high with a 24-point performance against Troy in her senior campaign while the 2010 Olympics were taking place in Vancouver.
Bowe will compete in the 1,000-meter race on Sunday, a distance at which she currently holds the world record. Her final event comes on Tuesday as she races in the 1,500-meter, where she is ranked No. 1 in the World Cup Standings.
