Junior forward Chenise Miller scored 29 points in last Saturday's win over Arkansas State

Boca Raton, FL - Basketball once again is highlighted in the Florida Atlantic University’s Student Athletes of the Week Award. However, Greg Gantt and Chenise Miller have earned the honor on their respective teams for the first time this season.
Gantt, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Gainesville, hit several key baskets to help the men’s basketball team open Sun Belt Conference play with a 72-65 victory over Arkansas State University on Saturday, December 1. He tied his career high with a 29-point effort in a game against the University of South Alabama on Thursday, November 29. For the week, Gantt made 61 percent of his field goals, including 8-of-12 on 3-pointers, and also averaged seven rebounds per game.
FAU’s men’s basketball team plays at Stetson University on Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m. before hosting Warner University on Sunday, December 9 at 3 p.m. at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
Miller, a 6-foot junior forward from Oak Park, MI, scored a career-high 29 points against Arkansas State to help lead the Owls to a 2-0 start in SBC play. She made a career-best 13 field goals and scored the team’s first 11 points in a 79-71 victory last Saturday. Miller also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. FAU also defeated South Alabama 67-56 on Wednesday, November 28.
The women’s basketball team, 5-2 for the season, takes a three-game winning streak to Mississippi State University of the Southeast Conference on Friday, December 7 at 8 p.m. Then, the Owls will play at the University of Wisconsin of the Big Ten Conference on Monday, December 10 at 8 p.m. That second game will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network.
