The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will host its second tournament in as many weekends as they host the FAU Holiday Classic at FAU Arena. The Owls will face Columbia on Saturday at 3 p.m., and St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 3 p.m.
FAU is hoping to improve on last weekend, when the Owls fell to Robert Morris and Samford, losing both times by a final of 70-59. Carla Stubbs led the way for the Owls in both games, scoring 15 against the Colonials, and a career-high 17 against the Bulldogs on Sunday.
The Owls will face a Columbia that is 2-3 on the season and beginning an eight-game road trip this weekend. The Lions are led by freshman center Lauren Dwyer, who averages 11.5 points per game and has twice been named Ivy League Rookie Player of the Week.
St. Bonaventure will face FAU on Sunday. The Bonnies are 5-1, having just suffered their first loss to Bowling Green on Sunday. They're led by forward Dana Mitchell, who leads the team both in points and rebounds with 18.8 points and seven boards a game.
"All these teams we're facing set us up for teams we will face in Sun Belt play," said Head Coach Chancellor Dugan. "Both teams we'll face this weekend play the same style which forces us to push the tempo."
