Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University basketball coaches Mike Jarvis and Kellie Lewis-Jay will be featured on the FAU Sportspage Radio Show on Tuesday, November 20 from 6-7 p.m. at Duffy's Sports Grill in Deerfield Beach.

Ken LaVicka hosts the show that is broadcast on ESPN760 AM and streamed on fausports.com.

Coach Mike Jarvis' men's basketball team has opened the season with a 1-3 record after participating in the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The Owls lost to nationally ranked North Carolina and Mississippi State in the opening games, before beating Coppin St. 64-61 and then losing to host Elon 61-59 in overtime last weekend at the Mainland Regional.

Stefan Moody is the Owls' leading scorer, averaging 14 points per game, while senior guard Greg Gantt is second on the team in both scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg). Senior Jordan McCoy is the team's leading rebounding at 7.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Jackson Trapp has shifted into the role as the team's starting point guard.

The team hosts American in its home opener on Saturday, November 24 at 1 p.m. at the FAU Arena.

Lewis-Jay is in her first season on the sidelines, and has guided the team to a 2-1 record. The Owls are coming off a 96-79 win over Jacksonville University in their home opener on Sunday, November 18. Lewis-Jay spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska, where she played a key role in the Cornhuskers' recruiting efforts.

The team is averaging 77.3 points through the first three games.

Junior guard Latavia Dempsey has come off the bench to lead the team in scoring, averaging 15 points per game. She has been a double-figure scorer in all three games, and matched her career high with 16 points against Jacksonville.

 

 

Junior forward Chenise Miller is scoring 11.3 points per outing, while junior guard Takia Brooks (10.7 ppg) and senior guard Breana Turner (10.0 ppg) round out the four players currently averaging in double-figures on offense.
