Boca Raton, FL -The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team will look for its second straight road win to start the season when the Owls travel to Bethune-Cookman University on Friday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m.

The Owls opened the season with a 75-55 victory at Georgia Southern University on Friday, November 9 in Kellie Lewis-Jay’s head coaching debut. The team shot 64 percent in the second half to pull away for the win.

FAU is looking for its first 2-0 start to a season since 1991-92.

Junior guard Latavia Dempsey scored a career-high 16 points, including 13 points in the second half, at Georgia Southern. The St. Petersburg, Florida native made seven field goals. She scored six straight points as FAU built a double-digit lead in the second half. The team led by four points with eight minutes remaining before Dempsey’s scoring run.

Junior forward Chenise Miller scored 16 points and senior guard Breana Turner rounded out the Owls’ double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Bethune-Cookman stands 1-1 on the season after dropping a 58-54 road contest at Jacksonville on Monday, November 12. The Wildcats defeated Trinity Baptist College 84-41 in their season opener on Friday. Chasity René Taylor scored 23 points in the victory.
