Women's Basketball Travels to Lynn for Exhibition Matchup

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team will open the 2017-18 season with an exhibition game against cross-town foe Lynn University on Saturday at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

A live stream of the game will be provided along with live stats.

NEW BEGINNINGS
It will be the first chance for fans to see head coach Jim Jabir’s Owls in his first season at the helm of the program. Jabir will rely on his 29 years of head coaching experience to bring together eight returners along with five newcomers for the 2017-18 season.

The returners include true seniors Sasha Cedeño, Malia Kency, Nika Zyryanova and Melinda Myers, redshirt-senior Raven Doyle, junior Ra’Kyra Gabriel, redshirt-junior Danneal Ford and redshirt-freshman Tyana Robinson. Graduate student DaChé Williams, juniors Jamaria Williams, Rhianna-Mae Laing and Alexis Cowan join the squad as transfers and junior Myka Johnson Matthews will redshirt this season.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING KNIGHTS
Lynn opened their exhibition schedule with a 65-55 win against Ave Maria last Sunday. Paola Vazquez Concepcion led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Lynn held an advantage in rebounds, steals and turnovers against Ave Maria.
