Practice One of 2017-18 is Complete for the Women's Basketball Team
Oct. 3, 2017

BOCA RATON, Fla. - As October winds blew in from the east and cloud cover shadowed the sky, a sign of the fall season hit South Florida Tuesday morning. But, it was the sound of quick pivots and whistles in the Florida Atlantic University Arena that was the real sign that fall was here as the FAU women's basketball team hit the court for the first time in 2017-18 under the direction of newly-hired Head Coach Jim Jabir.

"Today was a good start with everyone giving great effort and pulling for each other," said Jabir. "I am excited about the future as we build our culture."

The Owls' first practice was led by seniors Raven Doyle, Sasha Cedeno, Malia Kency, Nika Zyrvanova, Melinda Myers and graduate student DaChe Williams.

Fans can catch the team versus Lynn University in a crosstown exhibition contest, hosted by the Knights, on Saturday, Nov. 4. FAU will tip off its home slate on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. versus Mercer. The Owls will have 16 home contests, including the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament and FAU Holiday Tournament.

To purchase season tickets call 1-866-FAU-Owls or check online. All home games will be streamed live on fausports.com. Max Ziffer will return for his second season to provide the call for both home and away contests via fausports.com.
