Head Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay leads team for second year

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team released its 2013-14 schedule, which features matchups against 17 first-time opponents.
After opening the year with a home exhibition game against Lynn University, the Owls will travel to the Buckeye State for matchups against the University of Akron and Ohio State University on Friday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 10, respectively. After hosting Florida Memorial University on Saturday, Nov. 16, FAU Head Women's Basketball Coach Kellie Lewis-Jaywill lead her team north once more to face Western Illinois University and Cleveland State University on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Owls then will host its own Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30 at FAU's Boca Raton campus. The four-team tournament features FAU, the University of Detroit, Georgia Southern University and the University of Rhode Island. The Owls will open with Georgia Southern on Friday, and then play the winner of the Detroit/Rhode Island contest on Saturday.
After a two-week break, the Owls will host UCF before going to Lubbock, Texas for the 2013 Basketball Travelers Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech University. The three-day event, from Friday, Dec. 20 through Sunday, Dec. 22, pits FAU against Jacksonville University, Abilene Christian University and Texas Tech.
Following a short break over Christmas, FAU has games at UNC-Wilmington and at home against Bethune Cookman University before delving into Conference USA play on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at East Carolina University.
The conference home opener comes just a few days later when the Owls host Rice University on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at FAU's Boca Raton campus. FAU also hosts FIU, University of North Texas, Tulane University, Middle Tennessee State University, Southern Miss, and UTEP in C-USA matchups.
The Conference USA Championship Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 through Saturday, March 15, 2014 in El Paso, Texas and will be hosted by UTEP. The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship tournament.
