May 31, 2007

BOCA RATON, FL (May 23, 2007) - Chancellor Dugan announced the final three members of the 2007-08 Florida Atlantic University women's basketball signing class on Thursday.

Jenna Giller, a 5-9 guard from North Dakota State College of Science, played for head coach Paulette Stein during her two years as a Wildcat. She earned honorable mention NJCAA All-American honors, averaging 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals while blocking 29 shots this past season. For her efforts, she also earned First-Team All-Conference honors and was named conference MVP.

Jana Momoh, a 6-1 post player and Giller's teammate at NDSCS, earned NJCAA honorable mention All-American honors and First-Team All-Conference honors this past year. She averaged 12 points and seven rebounds while blocking 78 shots.

Mercedes Thompson, a 6-1 post player, comes to FAU from Indian River CC. She earned First-Team All-Conference honors, averaging 14 points, nine rebounds and two steals a game as a sophomore.

"Jana and Mercedes will give us toughness inside and improved team rebounding, and both can make quality passes out of the post," Dugan said.

"We're proud to add such high-caliber players to our roster," Dugan said. "Coming from junior colleges, each one will provide the program with a level of added maturity. They have joined in our quest to win the Sun Belt."

The trio will join the Owls in the fall as the team prepares for its second season in the Sun Belt.

"I'm looking forward to our second year in the Sun Belt," Dugan said. "We were competitive in all of our games last season and the 2007 recruiting class will have an immediate impact on current and future success."
