BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sasha Cedeño of the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team has been voted Second Team All-Conference USA.
Cedeño was a top five scorer in Conference USA all season long, finishing the year averaging 17.2 points per game and 14.8 in conference play. She also averaged over eight rebounds per game for most of the season, ranking in the top 10 in the conference.
On February 17 at FIU, Cedeño became the eighth FAU player to score 1,000 career points. Earlier in the season, she scored 30 points against Louisiana Tech to propel the Owls to their first win against the Lady Techsters in program history. Her 30 points were the most by a FAU player in nearly two years.
The Spring, Texas native made the most of her senior year, improving in almost every statistical category. Her 17.2 points per game average is nearly double her highest season total in her first three years. She nearly tripled her rebounding average and she increased her overall numbers in steals and blocks from a season ago. Her field goal percentage went up four percent from last season and her three point field goal percentage increased six percent from 2016-17. Her free throw percentage went up 18 percent from last year. She seven double-doubles this season after having only one previously in her career.
Cedeño is the sixth FAU member to be named to a postseason Conference USA team since joining the league in 2013.
The postseason Conference USA awards are voted on by C-USA head coaches and select media members.
The Owls earned a seven seed in the C-USA Tournament and will take on UTSA in the first round on Wednesday at 2:30 (EST). The game will be broadcast live on Facebook.
