Owls Take on FIU on Senior Day

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team will host rival FIU on Sunday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a ceremony held prior to the game to honor the 2018 seniors.

The game will be streamed live on CUSA.tv (subscription required) called by Max Ziffer and live stats will be provided during the game. Fans can also keep with the action by following @FAU_WBB on Twitter for live updates of the game.

GAME NOTABLES

Sunday will be the second meeting between Florida Atlantic (11-13, 5-8 C-USA) and FIU (7-19, 4-9 C-USA) this season in Miami. FIU won that matchup. Sunday will be the last home game of the season for the Owls and the final games in the Burrow for six FAU players; Raven Doyle, DaChé Williams, Sasha Cedeño, Malia Kency, Nika Zyryanova and Melinda Myers. The group will be honored during a Senior Day ceremony before the game.

FAU has led Conference USA in rebounds per game almost the entire season. The Owls are currently averaging 42.6 per game. The Owls also are first in the league in defensive boards, averaging 29 per game.

The Owls are averaging 70.4 points per game this season, which is third in the league and the highest for an FAU team since the 2013-14 season.

FAU features two players who have been dishing out dimes this season. Danneal Ford has maintained an average of 4.6 assists per game, fourth highest in Conference USA and Malia Kency has an average of 3.3 per game and an assist/turnover ratio of 1.73, which is fifth highest in the league.

 

 

UP NEXT

FAU will go on the road for the final week of the regular season. The Owls will travel to Marshall for a Thursday night showdown and then will head to Charlotte on Saturday.
