Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will search for its second straight season with 10 or more Sun Belt Conference regular-season victories when it hosts UALR on Saturday, February 23 at 3 p.m. from the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
The Owls are coming off a key 73-60 road win at the University of North Texas on Wednesday, February 20. The team made its first six three-point field goals after halftime, went 8-for-13 from beyond the arc for the second half and shot 60 percent of all field goal attempts in the period. FAU scored 49 second-half points - the most in a half this winter - to even its conference record to 9-9, while improving to 12-14 for the season.
Florida Atlantic can close out the season with a .500 overall regular-season record and second straight 10-win SBC campaign when it ends the season with two home games. The team will also host South Florida rival FIU with Senior Day festivities on Saturday, March 2 at 3 p.m.
FAU is searching for its first-ever victory over UALR. The Trojans have won all eight prior meetings, including a 77-45 win on Wednesday, January 23 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Senior guard Breana Turner paced four double-figure scorers at North Texas with 14 points. She is averaging 12.5 points per game and is 37 points from moving into 10th place in the program's career scoring list. Turner has compiled 947 career points. The Owls' talented junior class is led by forward Chenise Miller, who leads the team in scoring (13 ppg), tops the SBC in blocked shots (1.8 per game) and ranks among the league's rebound leaders (7 rpg).
