BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will take on FIU in Miami on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

Saturday will be the 42nd meeting between Florida Atlantic and FIU, the most meetings against any team for the Owls. FAU is down, 10-31, in the series. Both teams will be looking bounce back from extensive losing streaks. The Owls have lost five straight while the Panthers have lost seven-in-a-row.FAU has led Conference USA in rebounds per game almost the entire season. The Owls are currently averaging 43.0 per game, which is the 20th highest mark in the nation. The Owls also are first in the league in defensive boards, averaging 29 per game, which is 17th highest in the country. FAU is one of two teams in Conference USA with three players in the top 20 in the league in rebounds per game with Sasha Cedeño (8.1 rpg), Ra'Kyra Gabriel (7.0 rpg) and Raven Doyle (5.9 rpg).
The Owls are averaging 69.8 points per game this season, which is third in the league and the highest for an FAU team since the 2013-14 season. Cedeño leads the team in scoring and is the fifth leading scorer in the conference, averaging 17.4 points per game. The Owls have two others averaging double figures in Danneal Ford (13.0 ppg) and Tyana Robinson (11.5 ppg).
FAU features two players who have been dishing out dimes this season. Danneal Ford has maintained an average of 4.5 assists per game, fourth highest in Conference USA and Malia Kency has an average of 3.4 per game and an assist/turnover ratio of 1.65, which is fifth highest in the league.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, FAU took on preseason Conference USA favorite Middle Tennessee on Thursday night at FAU Arena followed by North Texas on Saturday.
On Thursday, after a slow first quarter, the Lady Raiders took advantage of a 15-0 run and built a substantial lead midway through the third quarter. FAU didn't back down though and fought back to bring the score to within four points. Four points was as close as they could get though with timely threes and made free throws from Middle Tennessee.
Against North Texas, the Owls jumped out to an early lead but the Mean Green made a comeback in the third quarter and would eventually win the game, 65-51.
Sasha Cedeño led the Owls in both games, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds for the week. Just as impressively, Cedeño was perfect from the free throw line for the week, shooting 14-of-14. With two double-doubles, she now has seven on the season.
On Wednesday, the Owls traveled to Old Dominion for a Valentine's Day date with the Monarchs. FAU held a one-point lead going into the final quarter, but ODU made the comeback and squeaked out a 59-54 win. Raven Doyle led the Owls with a season-high 18 points.
The Panthers have lost seven straight games, but previously registered wins against Louisiana Tech, Rice and Marshall.
FIU is led by the duo of Kristian Hudson and Kiandre'a Pound. Hudson is averaging 13.9 points per game along with 4.4 rebounds per game and 4.5 assists per game. Pound is putting up 12.9 points per game and pulling down 9.0 boards per game.
FAU will return home next week for the final two home contests of the season. Friday the Owls will host Southern Miss at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, FAU will host FIU on Senior Day. The Owls will be honoring six players during a senior ceremony.
