Bowling Green, KY - In a game that featured plenty of scoring, it was Western Kentucky University coming out on top of Florida Atlantic University, 105-78 in conference play on Thursday night.
FAU (4-23, 0-15 SBC) shot 47.1 percent in the second half, but allowed the Lady Toppers (18-6, 12-3 SBC) to shoot 66.7 percent and 6-of-10 from three-point land in the second frame. WKU also converted 21-of-30 free throws on the day.
Crystal Kelly stole the show for Western Kentucky, netting 29 points with nine rebounds on 10-of-16 shooting. Kenzie Rich drained 4 trifectas on her way to 19 points. Brooke Faulkner and Brianne Browne each scored in double-digits with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Brittney Crenshaw scored at least 10 points for the third straight game for the Owls, cashing in on 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Demina Anderson put in eight second-half points to finish the game with 14. Brittany Bowe was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe and converted on 12 points. Cristal Randolph drained three triples and ended the contest with 13 points.
The Owls trailed by as many as 17 points in the opening stanza before mounting a rally that saw themselves down six after a Brittney Crenshaw free-throw at the 1:30 mark. Crystal Kelly hit four straight points to close out the half with a 42-32 WKU lead.
In the second, the Lady Toppers used a 17-7 run to start the frame and never trailed by more than 20 after that point. FAU induced 23 turnovers, but also caused 27 fouls.
Florida Atlantic will take on New Orleans in conference action this Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern. It will be the final weekend home game of the season.
