Breana Turner's 13 Points Contribute to FAU's Win at South Alabama

BOCA RATON, FL - A first-place finish by freshman golfer Richard Donegan and a women's basketball win backed by Breana Turner, have earned the pair Florida Atlantic University's student athlete of the week award.
Donegan competed in the Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club on February 4-5, taking first individually and contributing to the team's second-place finish with 7-over 871. He finished the first round tied for tenth place with 1-under 71. Donegan tied for first during the second round of play and scored 73 on day two to take first-place overall with 6-under 210. He finished even par on par 3 scoring and recorded 14 birdies over the two days.
The men's golf team travels to Halifax Plantation on Sunday, February 17 to compete in the two-day Gary Freeman BCU Spring Invitational.
Turner played a key role in Florida Atlantic picking up a key road win at South Alabama last Saturday. The senior guard scored a game-high 13 points, including two free throws with 9.9 seconds left to give the Owls a three-point advantage. FAU successfully defended game-tying three-point field goal attempt to remain above the .500 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. Turner became the 11th player in program history to score more than 900 career points in the game. The New Orleans native scored 15 points to lead the team at FIU on Wednesday, February 6. On the season, Turner is averaging 12.3 points per game.
Women's basketball hosts Western Kentucky in their Play 4Kay breast cancer awareness game on Wednesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. in The Burrow.
