BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team face two more Conference USA opponents this week, hosting UAB on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. before going on the road to face Tulsa on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The high-scoring Owls (12-8, 2-5 C-USA) are 7-1 at home this season, averaging 89 points per game in the Burrow. FAU has not scored fewer than 78 points in a home game this year (11/30 vs. Rhode Island). Overall, four of FAU's last five losses have come by eight points or fewer.
Senior Kimberly Smith leads FAU in C-USA games, racking up 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Shanequa Schrouder is the team's leading active rebounder, grabbing 5.2 rebounds per contest to go along with her 7.7 point average.
FAU's leading scorer and rebounder Chenise Miller is unavailable for the rest of the season due to academic ineligibility.
UAB (11-9, 3-4 C-USA) has won three of its last four away games, but fell 66-58 in its latest road contest at North Texas on Feb. 1. The Blazers are led by Karisma Chapman who has recorded double-doubles in each of her last seven games. The senior is averaging 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in Conference USA games.
Tulsa (10-8, 4-3 C-USA) will travel to face Old Dominion on Wednesday before hosting the Owls on Saturday. At home, the Hurricane are 5-3, but have lost two of its last three at the Reynolds Center with losses to UAB and Middle Tennessee State. Tulsa is led by Ashley Clark, who averages 14.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Tipoff at TU is slated for 3 p.m. ET.
