BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's basketball team will host Sun Belt Conference rival Arkansas State University on Saturday, February 9 at 5 p.m. at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. The basketball game will be themed "Think Pink" in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness on college campuses.
The "Think Pink" initiative, created by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), will be combined with the NCAA "Pack the House" challenge to show nationwide support of women's basketball with the most spectators at a game, and National Girls and Women in Sports Day, to honor equality for women's sports. To celebrate "Think Pink," the FAU Arena will be draped in pink.
The rise in the number of people with breast cancer is no secret. The entire community is encouraged to participate in support of this important cause, with $2 admission offered to any fan wearing a pink shirt.
Service America will be offering a "Think Pink" T-shirt for $5 and is pledging $50 for every 3-point basket scored by the Owls at the game. All proceeds will go directly to the Boca Raton Community Hospital Women's Center for Breast Care. Service America also will distribute "Think Pink" koozies to the first 300 fans in attendance.
The FAU Ticket Office is located in the Tom Oxley Center, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact 1-866-FAU-OWLS or visit www.fausports.com.
