Women's Basketball Looks to Avenge Loss to FIU

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Following a bye-week, the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team gets back in action on Saturday, traveling to Miami to take on Conference USA rival FIU.

The Owls (12-7, 2-4 C-USA) have already matched their win total from a season ago with at least 11 games remaining in their 2013-14 schedule. FAU is coming off of an 82-69 victory over North Texas in the Burrow on Saturday, Jan. 25. Sophomore Morgan Robinson led the Owls with her career-high 18 points in that contest.

FIU (9-10, 3-3 C-USA) topped UAB 63-52 on the road Saturday with only five Panthers scoring in the game. Jerica Coley led FIU with 38 points, taking 35 of the team's 74 field goal attempts. Forward Tynia McKinzie had a double-double with ten points and an impressive 19 rebounds.

In the first meeting between the two squads on Wednesday, Jan. 15, FIU defeated the Owls 96-88 in Boca Raton. Coley scored 35 while Taylor Shade broke out for a career-high 26 points. The Owls had four seniors reach double-digit scoring, led by Latavia Dempsey's 18 points. Kimberly Smith scored 17 while Takia Brooks and Shanequa Schrouder added 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the U.S. Century Bank Arena. Live audio can be heard via subscription at FAUSports.com. FAU's next home game is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 5 against UAB at 7 p.m.
