Women's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back in Conference USA

Jan. 21, 2014

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team looks to gain ground in the Conference USA standings this week as the Owls travel to face Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 22 before hosting North Texas on Saturday, Jan. 25.

FAU (11-6, 1-3 C-USA) is coming off of an 80-44 loss at Old Dominion on Saturday, the Owls' worst shooting performance of the season. The high-powered offense was stymied beyond the 3-point line where FAU leads the conference this year.

Tech (5-12, 0-4 C-USA) has dropped five games in a row against stiff competition. The Lady Techsters have won five of their last seven games at home, falling to Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee State in their last two contests. Tech has four players averaging 9.8 points/game or better, led by Whitney Frazier's 15.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

The Owls are set to tip off in Ruston, La. at 7:30 ET on Wednesday. The Lady Techsters won the only meeting against the Owls, defeating FAU 71-32 in Boca Raton on March 3, 1987.

North Texas (7-10, 1-3 C-USA) will face FIU on Wednesday before coming to Boca Raton on Saturday. The Mean Green fell to UTSA on a buzzer beater in their last contest and are led by Briesha Wynn's 9.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. The Owls have won seven in a row against North Texas and are 7-2 all-time against the Mean Green.

Tipoff in the Burrow is slated for 5:00 p.m. For ticket information, call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
