Both teams bring in 6-2 league records into the game. That mark is good enough for FAU to be third in the SBC’s East Division, while North Texas leads the West Division.
The Owls stand 9-7 overall after a 74-63 home-court victory over Troy University on Wednesday, January 16. That victory extended the team’s home winning streak to 10 games. Junior guard Latavia Dempsey scored a career-high 24 points against Troy. She ranks third in the SBC with 43 three-point field percentage, and her 28 three pointers rank fifth in the league.
FAU is sixth nationally among NCAA Division I teams in turnover margin (+7.4) and leads the league with 12.8 steals per game. The team is second in the conference by averaging 72.8 points per game.
Leading that scoring attack is junior forward Chenise Miller at 14.4 points per game. She ranks eighth in the conference with 7.4 rebounds. Junior guard Takia Brooks (11.4 ppg) and senior guard Breana Turner (11.3 ppg) round out the team’s double-figure scorers.
