Gantt continued his impressive senior campaign with two more outstanding performances. In Thursday’s game against Middle Tennessee, he scored 23 points and had three rebounds. In Saturday’s 65-62 win over Western Kentucky, Gantt scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half and made all four of his free throws. It was his ninth straight game with at least 20 points and 13th in the last 14 games. Gantt is now in 23rd place in Sun Belt history with 1,699 points.
The men’s basketball team will host Troy on Thursday, January 17 at 7 p.m and North Texas on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m. at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
Although the women’s basketball team lost its second straight game against Western Kentucky 86-68 on Saturday, Kimberly Smith’s play on the court put the junior guard’s matured skills on display. Smith scored 18 points and made three 3-point field goals against Western Kentucky. She averaged 11 points in the two games for the women's basketball team. Smith also averaged three rebounds. The guard is scoring at an 8.7-point clip on the season and stands second on the team with 22 three pointers.
The women’s basketball team returns home to take on Troy on Wednesday, January 16 at 7 p.m. and will go on to host North Texas on Saturday, January 19 at 3 p.m.
