LOUISVILLE, KY -- The University of Louisville used four runs of 10 points or more to help defeat Florida Atlantic University, 93-67, Sunday afternoon in Louisville, KY. Louisville's Sara Nord led all scorers with 23 points to go along with a game-high 10 assists. Trineca McCleod led FAU with 19 points and nine rebounds.
FAU (1-6) used an 8-0 run early on to take an 8-5 lead at the 15:46 mark of the first half. However, Louisville (7-5) would go on its biggest run of the game as it rolled off 16 straight points over the next 2:25 to take a 21-8 lead with 13:21 left in the half. The blitz included three treys by Nord and one by Katie Olson. A 12-0 run later in the half helped Louisville to a 51-29 halftime advantage. Nord scored 16 of her points in the first half.
In the second half, FAU was unable to get closer than 21 points as the Cardinals built as much as a 37-point lead with 5:24 remaining. Twice in the second half, Louisville put together 10-0 runs. The Lady Owls closed the game on a 19-8 run of their own.
Louisville shot 48 percent from the field while FAU managed 46 percent. The Cardinals, behind Nord's five three-pointers, went 11-for-24 from beyond the arc. Louisville also went 22-for-31 from the line compared to FAU's 10-for-16.
McCleod's points were a season high as was Julie Goad's 12 points. Shontavia Williams added 15 points for the Lady Owls. DeKesh Frazier chipped in nine rebounds.
Florida Atlantic next faces South Florida Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm in Tampa, FL.
