BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Florida Atlantic University had three players score in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Owls were defeated by Birmingham-Southern College, 74-72, Saturday at the UAB Lady Blazer Classic. Trineca McCleod led FAU with 13 points while Jackie Brown and Shontavia Williams each had 11. FAU (1-5) had a chance to tie the game in the closing moments but couldn't get a shot off against BSC (6-3).

The Lady Owls opened up a 37-28 lead in the first half before BSC went on a 5-0 run to the end the half trailing 37-33. The Panthers took the lead for good with a 10-0 run to start the second half.

"I'm disappointed about the outcome, but I'm not about the way we played," said head coach Chancellor Dugan. "I really thought we played hard today."

DeKesh Frazier added nine for FAU while Cristal Randolph added eight. BSC's Stacey Anthony led all scorers with 18.

Florida Atlantic next faces Louisville December 28 in Louisville, KY.
