Tampa, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team's record-breaking season ended with a 76-20 loss to USF on Thursday in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament in Tampa. The Owls ended the season with a 17-13 record and made its sixth postseason appearance.

FAU posted its first winning season since 2005-06 and its 11 Sun Belt Conference wins were the most since the team joined the league.

USF (18-13) used a 13-0 run in the first half to break open an early 8-4 Bulls' lead. The Owls came back to score 10 consecutive points over a stretch from the first half to early second half. However, the host used another decisive scoring run to seal the tournament victory.

Sophomore forward Chenise Miller led FAU with seven points and nine rebounds. She earned second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in her first season as an Owl.

Sophomore guard Takia Brooks added five points, while sophomore guard Kimberly Smith made a three-point field goal.

USF was paced by Jasmine Wynne's 20 points. Andrell Smith came off the bench to score 15 points.

The game ended the careers for seniors Mariana Byczkowski, Vontrice Dennis, April Goins, Kristyn Madison, Viviana Penate, DaLita Scott and Teri Stamps.
