TROY, AL - Florida Atlantic University was defeated by Troy University 57-52 Saturday night in Troy, AL. The loss drops the Lady Owls to 11-14 on the year and 9-9 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Troy improves to 12-13 and 11-7 in the A-Sun. FAU is now tied with Stetson for sixth-place in the A-Sun with two games remaining in the regular season. All FAU needs to clinch a berth in the A-Sun Tournament is either a win or a Gardner-Webb loss.
Callie Piper and Sally N'Diaye each led FAU with 12 points. For Piper, it was a career-high to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds. N'Diaye tied a career-high for points. Mistoria Brown added 10 points for the FAU effort.
Neither team shot well from the field. FAU finished just 30 percent while Troy shot 35 percent. FAU led early in the game but trailed 57-52 at halftime.
The Lady Owls trailed the entire second half, by as many as seven with 36 seconds left. However, after a Piper three-pointer with 20 seconds left, FAU trailed just 55-52. Laura Lee Holman, who led Troy with 17 points, was then fouled and made a pair of free throws to account for the final scoring.
The loss snapped FAU's seven-game winning streak against the Trojans.
