MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP)- Krystle Horton scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead No. 17 Middle Tennessee to a 76-63 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders (26-3, 18-0 Sun Belt) tied the school record for wins in a season and set a conference mark with 18 victories. Middle Tennessee is the first Sun Belt school to go unbeaten in conference play since Louisiana Tech went 16-0 during the 2000-01 season.
Chrissy Givens scored 31 points for the second straight game to lead the Blue Raiders.
Givens and Horton combined to score 33 of Middle Tennessee's 44 second-half points as the Blue Raiders pulled away from a 32-28 halftime lead.
The seniors sparked an 18-0 run after Florida Atlantic (6-24, 2-16) cut the Blue Raiders' lead to 41-38 with 16 minutes remaining.
The Owls were able to stay close in the first half despite 18 turnovers. Florida Atlantic shot 50 percent (11-for-22) from the field.
Florida Atlantic took a 5-4 lead in the opening minutes after Cristal Randolph hit a 3-pointer. Givens hit two free throws to give the Blue Raiders a 6-5 lead they never lost.
The Owls cut the lead to 27-24 late in the first half on Mistoria Brown's layup. Florida Atlantic also cut the lead to three twice to begin the second half.
Brown led Florida Atlantic with 14 points while Randolph added 12.
