After trailing 31-24 at the halftime break, FAU scored the first eight points of the second half to take its first lead of the game, 32-31, with 17:40 remaining in the period. The lead grew to 41-36 five minutes later after another three-pointer by junior guard Latavia Dempsey.
However, a pair of North Texas free throws by Loryn Goodwin trimmed FAU's lead to 46-44 with 9:45 left in the second half. However, the Owls responded by scoring the next five points to build a seven-point advantage, and the lead grew to 11 points, 63-52, after a Blakely three-pointer with four minutes remaining.
