Lafayette, LA - Making 53 percent of its field goal attempts, the University of Louisiana scored a 72-57 victory over the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball in a Sun Belt Conference (SBC) game on Saturday, February 16 in the Cajun Dome.

The Owls fall to 11-14 on the season and 8-9 in conference play, while Louisiana improves to 8-17 overall and 2-14 in SBC action. FAU returns to the court on Wednesday, February 20 at 8 p.m. at the University of North Texas.

Junior forward Chenise Miller paced FAU's offensive attack with 18 points, and also had eight rebounds. Senior guard Breana Turner scored 16 points and junior guard Takia Brooks added 11 points.

Louisiana's Kia Wilridge and Keke Veal each had 20 points to lead the hosts. Ashley Benjamin chipped in 11 points.

Florida Atlantic held a 35-33 halftime advantage, but Louisiana used an 8-0 run midway through the second half to take a commanding 58-49 lead. A pair of free throws by Turner trimmed the deficit to eight points, 64-56, with 3:49 left in the game.

However, that was as close as FAU would get in the closing minutes.
