BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team suffered only its third home loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to Conference USA opponent Tulane 74-62 at FAU Arena.
Senior Takia Brooks led the Owls (13-10, 3-7 C-USA) with 13 points while fellow senior Ashley Stevenson earned her career high with 12 points. Kimberly Smith tacked on seven points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Tulane (18-6, 9-2 C-USA) had three players reach double figures, including Tiffany Dale and Danielle Blagg who each posted 17 points and nine rebounds.
For the 21st time this season, the Owls forced at least 16 turnovers, scoring 20 points off of Tulane's 22 turnovers.
FAU led for a majority of the first half before the Green Wave pieced together a 13-4 run to end the half up 37-31. Tulane led by as many as 11 points before the Owls went on an 8-0 run to cut it to a three-point lead with 11 minutes left.
A Stevenson layup would cut the lead to four before Tulane went on a 14-3 run to take the largest lead of the game with 2:30 remaining.
The Owls will be at home Saturday, Feb. 15 against Conference USA-leading Middle Tennessee State. Tipoff is slated for noon and the contest will be aired on Fox Sports.
