Jonesboro, AR - The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball fell to Sun Belt Conference West Division leading Arkansas State University 74-56 on Saturday at the Convocation Center.

The Owls drop to 10-9 on the season and 7-4 in league play. The team returns to the court on Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. against the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Arkansas State, winner of its sixth straight game, improves to 11-9 overall and 8-3 in conference action.

Junior forward Chenise Miller led three double-figure scorers with 13 points. She also had nine rebounds. Senior guard Breana Turner and junior guard Kimberly Smith each added 10 points.

The Owls cut an 11-point first-half deficit to trail 34-30 at halftime. However, Arkansas State scored 11 of the first 16 points in the second half to build a 10-point lead, 45-35, with 14:36 left in the game. FAU could not get within nine points the rest of the way.

Arkansas State’s Ashley Olvera scored 23 points, while Jane Morrill had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
