Little Rock, AR - Defending Sun Belt Conference West Division champion UALR used a 21-3 first-half spurt and a stingy defensive effort to score a commanding 77-45 victory over the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team on Wednesday, January 23 at the Jack Stephens Center.

The Owls fall to 10-8 on the season and 7-3 in SBC action. The team now travels to Arkansas State University on Saturday, January 26 for a televised game, starting at 6 p.m. in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

An early 6-0 FAU run tied the game at 13-13 before UALR (12-7, 5-6 Sun Belt) seized control, going on the 21-3 run over seven minutes.

Junior guard Kimberly Smith led the way for the visitors, scoring 10 points, while junior forward Chenise Miller had seven points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, UALR was led by Taylor Gault’s 17 points. Shanity James added 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Taylor Ford (16) and Kiera clark (14) were also double-figure scorers for the victorious hosts.
