BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University was defeated by the University of Central Florida Wednesday night, 89-69, in Boca Raton, FL. FAU's Tamica Pierce led all scorers with a career-high 28 points while UCF was led by Jessica Scala, who finished with 19 points. The loss drops FAU to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. UCF improves to 8-6 and 4-1, respectively.

UCF jumped out to a quick 8-0 start before FAU managed to take a 17-13 after scoring 13 unanswered points. The Lady Owls would lead by four points on a couple of occasions in the first half before both teams settled for a 37-37 halftime tie.

The second half was all UCF as the Golden Knights outscored the Lady Owls 52-32 in the final frame. UCF was helped by 65 percent second half shooting that allowed them to outshoot FAU 55 percent to 34 percent for the night. UCF also controlled the boards, 46-39.

Crystal Boyland was the only other Lady Owl in double figures as she finished with 15 points. LaKeita Lee added nine.

Along with Scala, UCF's Adrienne Billings had 16 points, Lanetra Cooks 14, Ali Roberts 12, and Takira Allen 10.
