BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University ended a six-game losing streak in convincing fashion as it crushed Jacksonville University, 80-43, Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, FL. FAU's Jackie Brown led all scorers with 14 points as FAU outscored JU 50-17 in the second half. The win improves FAU to 2-7 on the year and 1-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Lady Owls opened up an early 10-point lead on a lay-up by Cristal Randolph at the 8:25 mark that gave FAU a 20-10 lead. JU (2-7, 0-2 A-Sun) crept back to within one point before FAU closed the half leading 30-26.
It was the second half that would prove to be the difference as the Lady Owls jumped out with 15-2 run to lead 45-28 with 15:08 remaining. The stretch was capped off by consecutive three-pointers by Julie Goad, Janka Deckerova, and Brown.
A free throw by JU's Katie McDonald with 11:29 left pulled the Dolphins to within 50-37 before FAU took control of the game. The Lady Owls ran off 12 straight points before a free-throw by Sheena Carpenter stopped the run. The Lady Owls promptly scored 14 more points to finish off a 26-1 run over an eight-minute stretch and led 76-38 at the 3:42 mark.
Twelve Lady Owls scored in the game. Brown was the only one in double-figures. Randolph finished with nine points while Shontavia Williams added eight to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. DeKesh Frazier and Trineca McCleod finished with seven points.
FAU shot 45 percent and held JU to 22 percent. The Dolphins committed 31 turnovers and went 0-for-11 from beyond the arc. The Lady Owls also controlled the boards with a 48-40 rebounding edge.

The margin of victory was FAU's largest since defeating Jacksonville 82-45 on February 8, 2001.
Florida Atlantic next faces Stetson University Monday night in DeLand, FL.
