Men's and Women's Cross Country is Mississippi-Bound for C-USA Championship

BOCA RATON, Fla. Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country will head to Clinton, Mississippi to take part in Saturday morning's 2017 Conference USA Championship, hosted by Southern Miss.

A travel roster of seven men and nine women will represent the Owls for the weekend. The conference's annual postseason meet is to be held at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. The men go off first, at 10 a.m. EST for an 8K race, while the women's 5K is set for 11 a.m. local time. As part of the day's postrace awards ceremony, the 2017 C-USA All-Conference Teams will be selected based on individual finishes in each race.

"We are excited to toe the line versus the other C-USA teams and see how we perform on Championship Day," said Head Coach Alex Smolka. "We have trained hard and smart for months, and we feel we are ready to have a great performance from our team members. From the beginning of the season, the focus is always to have our best performance on Championship Day, and that's what we expect to happen on Saturday."

The men's traveling squad is represented by Sean Barone, Hermano Cherilus, John Marting, Nolan Meuret, Cristian Moreno, Lachlan Shiver and Jonathan Werble. The women's nine scheduled to compete Saturday are Sophia Clark, Johanna Freeman, Megan Giovanniello, Morgan Graff, Bethany Hardcastle, Mikaela Jonsson, Erica Lersch, Christina Schultz and Liz Wellman.
