The Florida Atlantic University men’s cross country team competed in the USF Collegiate Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16th.
The men’s team took fifth place out of nine Division 1 teams with an average time of 27:48.96. The consistent freshman Conor Fitzgerald led the way for the Owls finishing in 13th place overall with a time of 26:56.00 in the men’s 8k. Senior Christian Small finished closely after, coming in 20th overall with a final time of 27:19.20.
Coming in 35th place, recording his best finish and time was freshman Jehal Thompson with a time of 28:06.10. Teammate Ross Rabalais was also able to record his personal best finishing 36th coming in less than one second after Thompson at 28:07.00. The newcomer Cory Moogerfield was the next finisher for FAU placing 43rd with a time 28:36.50.
Freshman Johanny Przygocki, Jonathan Werble, sophomore Connor Bergin and John Marting rounded out the group for the Owls, with final times of 28:56.10, 29:10.40, 29:42.20, and 30:14.70, respectively. Other Personal records were achieved today from Conor Fitzgerald, and Johanny Przygocki.
Head Coach Alex Smolka said, “I was very pleased with the way the guys performed today and I feel very confident with where they stand heading into the Conference USA Championships.”
