Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis team looks to turn the weeks of preparation into victories on the court when it participates in the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Southeast Regional Tournament this weekend at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Matches will begin on Thursday, October 18, and continue through Monday, October 22.
“This tournament features several nationally ranked teams, including some in the top 10,” said Brandon Stokes, FAU’s head men’s tennis coach. “Our region is one of the strongest in the nation. Our players are ready for this challenging opportunity.”
The tournament marks the Owls’ third competition this fall, following the Bedford Cup and the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in September.
“We have shown progress each week and each tournament this fall,” said Stokes. “This tournament is the opportunity for us to showcase the success of our training efforts, have fun and embrace the moment.”
Sophomore Will Neuner advanced to the semifinals in singles at the FGCU Invitational. The Pensacola, Fla. native leads the team with four victories this fall.
FAU recorded eight singles triumphs in its most recent tournament.
Senior Jose Fantova has tallied two singles triumphs and teamed with sophomore Sean Bacha to advance to the quarterfinal round at Florida Gulf Coast. The duo defeated a doubles team from the University of Miami in the first round.
