Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis players look to build upon lessons learned throughout the fall season into this weekend's Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers. Tournament play begins on Friday, September 28 and concludes on Sunday, September 30.
"This weekend will challenge us against a strong tournament field from teams throughout Florida," said Brandon Stokes, FAU's head men's tennis coach. "Our players have areas to improve upon, and that improvement will make us better as a team. The first tournament of the fall season established a baseline for our future success. The players are doing their best daily to earn more success this weekend."
Senior Taylor Albrecht entered the season ranked 105th nationally among singles players by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Another strong returning player, sophomore Will Neuner, started the fall season by splitting a pair of singles matches at the Bedford Cup tournament in Gainesville. He dropped a hard-fought match to a preseason nationally opponent before rebounding for a straight-set victory in a consolation match.
Senior Jose Fantova also posted a consolation-match victory at Gainesville, dropping only three games to pick up his first FAU victory.
