Boca Raton, FL - Four prestigious tournaments highlight the fall schedule for the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team. The Owls will compete in three tournaments in September and wrap up fall action in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Southeast Regional in October.
The Owls return a core group of players from last year's 13-win season last spring. Anchoring the lineup is senior Taylor Albrecht, who compiled a 19-1 singles record in 2012. Overall, he posted a 23-5 record in his first season in the program. Sophomore Chris Janssen tallied a 17-13 singles record, including 12 victories at the No. 2 position. Fellow sophomore Will Neuner won 12 matches and teamed with Albrecht to earn all-conference accolades in doubles. Other returnees are sophomores Sean Bacha, Garrett Betsarakis and Robert Dubuque.
Coach Brandon Stokes' team begins the fall schedule at the State of Florida Tennis Championships in Gainesville from September 14-16.
FAU will compete at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers from September 28-30. Them, select team members will participate in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., from September 28 through October 4.
The Owls will wrap up the fall schedule at the ITA Southeast Regional in Tallahassee from October 18-22.
Team members will play in clay court tournaments as part of the USA Future's Events in Pensacola, on October 29; Niceville, on November 5; and Bradenton, on November 12.
