Boca Raton, Fla. - Posting its third consecutive double-digit match victory total has propelled the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team to close the season ranked among the top NCAA Division I teams in the southeast region.

The final Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll has placed the Owls 10th in the region after the team had a 13-9 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference championships.

"It's always good to be recognized by the ITA for national and regional purposes," said Brandon Stokes, FAU men's tennis head coach. "This is the second consecutive year the boys have earned this season ending honor. Our program is headed in the right direction, however, we are not satisfied with this result."

Stokes also added: "We must do better regionally and nationally. The returning Owls are training in the gym, playing and winning tournaments since the season ended. The new recruits coming in this fall intend to make a positive impact the first day. The Owl standards continue to rise."

FAU had five players record double-digit wins in singles action, highlighted by 15 victories from freshman Matthew Braunworth. Junior Marc Abdelnour posted 14 victories while senior Lawrence Harradine, junior Joshua Scholl and freshman Georg Matschke each won 13 singles matches.
