Boca Raton, Fla. - Being able to play competitive Division I collegiate tennis near his hometown has put Satellite Beach native Robert Dubuque on track to play at Florida Atlantic University. The Satellite Beach High School standout has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Owls during the 2011-12 seasons.
Dubuque joins a recruiting class that features two other players from Florida and one Texas product.
"I chose FAU because I love the state of Florida. I love the hard work and the energy I got from (FAU) Head Coach Brandon Stokes," said Dubuque. "(FAU) is a great campus that's relatively close to home. The team also plays a great schedule, trains very hard and plays very smart tennis."
Stokes is also eager to welcome Dubuque to the Owls' program, stating: "Robert has strong character, mind and heart. His family has done a terrific job supporting his goals. Robert will continue to develop at a rapid and effective pace because he is committed, enthusiastic and talented. We are fortunate to have him as an Owl. He will make a positive impact on our program."
FAU is coming off its third consecutive winning season, with a 12-10 record, and advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference championships for the third straight year.
