BOCA RATON, Fla. Florida Atlantic University junior Remi Chancerel earned the title of Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week after his 4-0 singles and 3-1 doubles performances last week.
The Dax, France native extended his singles win streak to eight matches and improved to a team-best 15-2 on the year in No. 2 singles. Paired up with Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff, the duo won three doubles matches in a row last week, including a win that helped setup a team victory at No. 39 Old Dominion.
“Remi's success this season has not been a surprise,” FAU Head Coach Ricardo Gonzalez said. “When you work hard and do things the right way, results will come. Not only does he do a good job on the court, but he also does a great job taking care of the little details and leading by example. I am so proud of Remi's success. He deserves it.”
Chancerel has helped anchor the 2017 FAU squad that sits at 15-5, the fifth-most victories in program history and the most wins in the last eight years.
The Owls will host Lipscomb on April 7 at 2 p.m. and will recognize four seniors in their final home match at the FAU Tennis Complex. Admission is free to the public.
