Sarasota, FL - Florida Atlantic University sophomore men's tennis player Will Neuner earned a straight-set victory to capture the consolation singles title at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Invitational on Sunday, November 11.
Neuner defeated Princeton University's Dan Richardson 6-3, 6-2 for the tournament title.
"Will played at a consistently high level," said Brandon Stokes, FAU's head men's tennis coach. "He competed well on Sunday and throughout the tournament."
On Saturday, November 10, the Pensacola native defeated USF's Everett Dzib 6-4, 6-1 and rallied for a three-set win against Furman University's Andrew Mellow in the semifinals. Neuner forced a third set with a 6-2 victory in the second frame. Then, Neuner won the tiebreaker by a 10-7 score to advance to the championship match.
"Will's dedication gives the team and program a powerful surge going into the spring season," said Stokes.
